Longtime friend-of-the-show Aric Bieganek has a rockin’ new band, the Royal Order of Chords and Keys (R.O.C.K.).  They’ll be playing at the Meltdown, plus they’ve got a show at the Springfield Community Music Center a week from Saturday.  They came by the studio to record an in-studio to air this week; here’s a preview.  Does it rock?  Oh, yes, it rocks.

Danny and Yosi put on a great show at Cup & Top Cafe today, and also stopped by the studios to record an in-studio with us that we’ll air on Saturday.  Here’s one song, “She Just Doesn’t Get It,” from their new holiday CD, …And a Happy New Year.

You can celebrate the new year in a couple of ways this week:

First up, on Tuesday at 4, Danny Adlerman & Yosi will play a free after-school show at Cup & Top Cafe in Florence.  These guys have been mainstays of the show since the very start and have released (along with Kevin Kammeraad) a great winter record, “…And a Happy New Year.”  Bucket of fun, this will be.  (And they’ll be on the show on Saturday.)

Then on Saturday at 3, Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem will have a CD release party at First Churches, benefiting Nontuck Community  Preschool.  The band’s new CD, Ranky Tanky, is more fun than is allowed in some countries.  You should be there.

We’ve played a bunch from the band’s new kids’ CD, Ranky Tanky.  They came by the studio this week to record an in-studio we’ll air on January 2 (a week before they’re playing a benefit (taking place at First Churches) for Nonotuck Preschool).  Here’s a sneak preview, a great version of the Funky Meters’ “They All Ask’d For You.”  And check out the Drumship Enterprise — as you’ll hear on the show, it includes a cardboard box, a naugahyde suitcase, and all sorts of metal cans!
