Interview with Jonathan Coulton

Jan 11

Jeff Giles, editor of Popdose (and, kid-music-wise, Dadnabbit), had the so-crazy-it-just-might-work idea to ask Ella to interview Jonathan Coulton about his new record, Artificial Heart, among other subjects.  The interview, transcribed, is up at Popdose, and you can listen to it here:

New Deedle Deedle Dees Song

Jul 19

Lloyd Miller (a/k/a Ulysses S. Dee) of the Deedle Deedle Dees played a great set at Tuesday Market today, and then stopped by the studio for a visit we’ll air on July 30.  But you can check out a song from their forthcoming (as yet unnamed) album now:

Nields In-Studio

May 28

Long-time friends-of-the-show The Nields came by to record an in-studio that we’ll broadcast on June 11, but I wanted to give you a preview now of their lovely song “Anna Kick a Hole in the Sky,” including a brief introduction of the origins of the song’s name.  They’re doing a ton of stuff to celebrate twenty years in the music business, including a family show that morning, a scavenger hunt, and a full-band reunion that night.  Check out their website for more.

Jarrett Krosoczka’s Triumphant Return

Apr 07

One of the great delights of doing the show has been working with my friend Jarret J. Krosoczka for the last three years producing the Meltdown.  Well, this year, he’s both nominated for and hosting the Children’s Choice Book Awards, the only national award voted on by kids.  So we figured we’d have him on to talk about that, to give a little preview of the next couple of Lunch Lady books, and to talk about his new picture book, due this fall.  And to discuss his planned awards show wardrobe.

You can vote right now, if, y’know, you’re a kid.  Jarrett’s hoping they can break 500,000 votes this year — help him out!

We’ll air the interview a week from Saturday (4/16), but you can listen now:

We’ll edit it down and air it eventually, but for now, here’s the whole (long!) thing. It starts while we were just chatting before formally starting the interview.
