They Might Be Giants In Studio!
Mar 08
We had a great time hanging out with They Might Be Giants this afternoon (they’re at the Calvin tonight! You should go!). We’ll air our chat on March 17, but if you want to listen now:
[audio:http://sparetherock.com/TMBGMarch2012.mp3|titles=TMBG on Spare the Rock]And you probably want to listen, since it has music (including a crazy minor key version of Dr. Worm) and news about the next kids’ stuff they’ll be doing! (Like, news you haven’t seen anywhere else, I’m pretty sure.)
I was tricked! I was promised a “minor key” Dr. Worm! This is the same key!
Well, that’ll teach me to listen to the whole podcast.
Because I could not stop for Death–
He kindly stopped for me–
The Carriage held but just Ourselves–
And Immortality.
We slowly drove — He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility —
We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess — in the Ring —
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain —
We passed the Setting Sun —
Or rather — He passed Us —
The Dews drew quivering and chill —
For only Gossamer, my Gown —
My Tippet — only Tulle —
We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground —
The Roof was scarcely visible —
The Cornice — in the Ground —
Since then — ’tis Centuries — and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses’ Heads
Were toward Eternity —
