Deedle Deedle Dees – Tickets On Sale Now!

Feb 09

Valley favorites the Deedle Deedle Dees will make their triumphant return to Flywheel on Saturday, February 26, at 1:00, and you can buy discounted advance tickets now.  They’re just $5 per ticket or $15 for a family four-pack, and can be ordered at Brown Paper Tickets starting today.

The Dees will be doing a special Black History Month show featuring tunes about Sojourner Truth, Fannie Lou Hamer, Cool Papa Bell, Satchel Paige, Henry Box Brown, and other folks worthy of song — including some songs never before performed in the Valley.

Tickets are, again, just $5 in advance, $15 for a family four-pack (and infants are free).  A better deal cannot be found in all the thirteen colonies.

The show is part of the No Nap Happy Hour series, presented by Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child and Hilltown Families.

Exclusive: New Gustafer Yellowgold Video!

Feb 05

We’re taking part in the weeklong celebration of All Things Gustafer Yellowgold (at least All Things Gustafer Yellowgold’s Infinity Sock), which means today — and today only — you get to see a preview of the video for the song “Cheddar” (also played on today’s show).  Check it out:

(Note that use of the song does not imply any endorsement of the Green Bay Packers, although I am, kinda, rooting for them tomorrow.)

Pre-order the CD/DVD set either through their online store or through a little outfit called Amazon.

Happy Birthday to Cup & Top!

Jan 27

Cup & Top Cafe in Florence has been a great friend to the show since we were both babies — they started five years ago next month, when we had only been on the air about six months ourselves.  They’re celebrating their birthday all month, including a bunch of shows you might call warmups to the Meltdown.  So, check it out:

  • Every Tuesday @ 4pm – Puppets & Sing-Along Time with Anna Sobel of Talking Hands Theatre* (ages 1-5)
  • Saturday Feb. 5th, 5-7pm – Opening reception (and gift basket giveaway!) for Hilltown Families: A Traveling Photography Exhibit Featuring Life and Landscape in Western MA. (all ages!)
  • Wednesday Feb 9th @ 4pm – An afternoon of music with local legend, Jay Mankita* (ages 1-8)
  • Sunday Feb 13th @ 1pm – The World Premier of Mister G’s* Community Chorus! The Chorus is made up of kids 6-10 who love to sing. (ages 5-10)
  • Monday Feb 21st @ 10am – Celebrate President’s Day with The Cat’s Pajamas. Joining us from Philly, this group makes cool music for kids, with dance, puppets, props and costumes. (ages 2-10)
  • Friday Feb 25th, 3:30-5pm at the Florence Civic Center – A skating party and book reading to celebrate the publication of Lisa Papademetriou’s latest book, ICE DREAMS! (ages 8-12)
  • Monday Feb 28th @ 4pm – Celebrate the final day of the Cafe’s 5-year-birthday-month with a “WARMUP to the MELTDOWN*” hosted by favorite local author/illustrator, Jarrett Krosoczka! (ages 4-10)

*These artists will also be appearing at this year’s MELTDOWN, The River’s Family Music and Book Fest, March 26th at JFK.

Wow!  Congratulations to Helen and Cup & Top!  To keep up with happenings there, you can also be sure to “like” the cafe on Facebook.
