In 2016, Spare The Rock Records released Let All The Children Boogie: A Tribute To David Bowie<\/em><\/strong>, an all-ages album dedicated to the music and artistry of David Bowie. The album features new interpretations of his work from a diverse group of artists with the mission of sharing his legacy and messages with a new generation. A decade later, the album remains vital, and has raised over $40,000. The album is available for streaming or purchase at all the usual spots, including on BandCamp<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Proceeds from the record benefit the It Gets Better Project<\/strong><\/a> and its mission to communicate to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth around the world that it gets better, and to create and inspire the changes needed to make it better for them.\u00a0 In short, It Gets Better works towards a world where all the children can boogie freely.<\/p>\n

Talent confirmed for the project to date includes Jon Langford<\/strong> & Sally Timms<\/strong> (The Mekons, Wee Hairy Beasties), Rhett Miller<\/strong> (Old 97\u2019s), Antibalas<\/strong>, Gina Chavez<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>Walter Martin<\/strong> (The Walkmen), Ted Leo<\/strong>,\u00a0Tracy Bonham & Uncle Rock<\/strong>, Wunmi<\/strong>, Elizabeth Mitchell<\/strong>, Justin Roberts<\/strong>, The Pop Ups with Gustafer Yellowgold<\/strong>, Red Yarn<\/strong>, Colin Brooks <\/strong>(Dan Zanes and Friends), Adam Levy & Chastity Brown<\/strong>, Nakia with the Barton Hills Choir<\/strong>, Storey Littleton<\/strong>,\u00a0Molly Ledford<\/strong>, Sonia De Los Santos & Elena Moon Park <\/strong>(Dan Zanes and Friends) and others.<\/p>\n

David Bowie proved that there are no rules about who you should or could be in this world. His musical and artistic approach defined creative freedom. He lived a glowing life on his own terms, a shining example of the infinite possibilities out there.<\/p>\n

In addition to celebrating Bowie\u2019s catalog and life\u2019s work, the project introduces him to today\u2019s kids. From \u201cKooks\u201d to his narration of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf <\/em>to his role in Labyrinth<\/em> and his own role as a father, it seemed Bowie always knew that children were a different species and he welcomed them into his world.<\/p>\n

Producers on the album include multi-Grammy nominee and winner Dean Jones; author and musician \u201cUncle Rock\u201d Robert Burke Warren; Stephanie Mayers, publicist and marketing consultant of Mayers Consulting; and Bill Childs, owner of Spare The Rock Records and producer of nationally syndicated radio show Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child. Cover art was created by popular children\u2019s book illustrator Jarrett J. Krosoczka<\/a> (Lunch Lady<\/em>, Punk Farm<\/em>).<\/p>\n
