Ella is practically a roadie for The Band

Well, not really, but go check out my sister's new house's connection to The Band.

(They ["They" being my sister, her husband, and the Little One {our niece/cousin}] just bought an old house in Fayetteville, Arkansas, that was long ago converted to five apartments. That blog is documenting the process of returning it to single-family-status, renovating, etc.)

Aloha! Or something.

So you know Princess Katie & Racer Steve will be filling in for us on January 5, and they're getting some great stuff together -- including, I hear, brand new Lunch Money.

I'll be in New York for a conference and will probably stick around to go check out this show at Joe's Pub, with Joe McDermott and the Moonlighters doing a Hawaiian Playground release party.

Anyone else going? Let me know...

Shows Here and in the Even-More-Frozen North

Couple of shows of interest coming up:

First, Minnesota listeners and readers: Go see ScribbleMonster (well, ScribbleJayne and ScribbleJim) at MacPhail Center for the Arts on January 5 at 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM.

Second, we're still working out details, but pencil in 1:00 on Saturday, March 8, as we'll have the triumphant return of Princess Katie & Racer Steve to the Pioneer Valley. We'll be putting this together with our friends at the Hilltown Family Variety Show.

Some other biggish announcements coming up soon, I hope/think.

Also, welcome to folks coming from Zooglobble who heard Stefan on NPR. Make yourself at home and look around!

More Gustafer

Sienna has posted her notes, photos, and a video from the Gustafer Yellowgold show.

Sun Creatures Come to Florence

We sure had fun having Gustafer Yellowgold play in town on Sunday; be sure to listen to tonight's Hilltown Family Variety Show to hear Morgan guest DJing. To hear when Morgan and Rachel were on our show, you can check out this show from last February.

Thanks also to Sienna for sending along this picture of Morgan and Rachel with me, Ella, and Persephone:

I'm sure she'll post some pictures from the show soon over on their site.

Update:

A couple more pictures from Sienna:

Liam is mesmerized.

...as are Ella and Persephone.

Are you as dorky as I am?

I bet you are. And I bet you (well, some of you) watched Mystery Science Theater 3000. (Fewer of you probably saw the early KTMA episodes, but that's okay.)

Anyway, I knew about RiffTrax, which is a pretty cool thing being done by Mike Nelson and others, and it has a blog too.

But now Joel Hodgson has announced his own pilot show, Cinematic Titanic, along with original MST3Kers Trace Beaulieu, J. Elvis Weinstein, TV's Frank Conniff and Mary Jo Pehl.

Good times.

So the show is Sunday, December 9, at 4:30 pm. Doors will open at about 4:00. Enter by way of the door at the top of the ramp, by the parking lot.

The Florence Civic Center is right next to Lilly Library, which has good directions.

Admission is $7 at the door only. We can't take checks or credit cards, and exact change will be appreciated (though we'll have some change there).

See you there!

That's Just Weird.

Elizabeth, kids' PR person extraordinaire, points out that now -- right now! -- Gustafer Yellowgold is featured on the front page of CosmoGirl.com. Behold:

(Click on the image to see it full-sized.)

Right now anyway, the review -- which even mentions the show in Florence on Sunday -- is here; you can also see a PDF here.

And no, if you come to the show, nobody will call your kids "snot monsters."

New Valley Kids column...

...is here, complete with a great picture of Morgan Taylor and Gustafer.

Remember: Gustafer is this coming Sunday at 4:30 at the Florence Civic Center.
