It's rainy and kinda chilly here in the Valley, but we should have some fun anyway.
So Dena and I saw Mates of State last night at the Iron Horse. They're doing a new thing on this tour - Kor plays a baby grand piano rather than the usual array of keyboards, while they've added a bass player/backup singer and a cellist. So it's on the one hand a little less rock-looking, but in fact was just about as satisfying. It was a great, if brief, set, with local band the Winterpills doing an acoustic trio opening set.

If one of your new-fangled technologies is a cell phone that can download ringtones, well, this is cool. For whatever reason, my Treo -- while generally pretty fancy and schmancy -- can't do such ringtones, so it is not for me. But perhaps it is for you!
