Help?

I don't suppose anyone happened to record last Saturday's show from the feed or over the air...but if you did, please let me know!

Thanks, as always, to Sienna for the great pictures, and to Cup & Top Cafe for hosting a great show!

4/28/07 Playlist

Gaaaaah! Something went burpy with the recording about 30 minutes into the show and the rest of it was unlistenable. Particularly huge bummer since Princess Katie & Racer Steve were on. Curses! Curses! Curses!

Thank you to PK&RS, though, for being great guests and putting on a terrific show at Cup & Top. They rocked.

The archive -- about 30 minutes worth -- is here.

Wade in the Glory that is the Hipwaders

...or at least a guest DJ set with Hipwader Tito, coming up on June 16.

(I know, that's a ways off. It's a busy spring and we have some travel.)

Spring is here (finally)

I've been trying to seed some bare patches in the yard, clean up the pond (sadly disposing of the frog that apparently hoped to winter over there), and so on, and the kids have been enjoying spring while listening to Gooney Bird Kids Radio on our new cheap outdoor speakers.

Rudnick Pictures

(I will in fact get more pictures up from the Nields and Dan Schorr. Honest.)

I've Been Remiss

I really haven't plugged this week's visit from Ben Rudnick, but I promise it's not because I'm not excited about it -- I just frankly can't believe it's almost April 21. Be sure to (a) listen -- the band will be on in the first half of the show -- and (b) come to Cup & Top at around 10 to see them play a free show. They came out to Florence back in the earliest days of the show and we recorded a session with them at a local studio, and it was just great watching them work together. It's fun, gentle, sometimes-wandering-but-in-a-good-way, music.

Add in the Recess Monkey guest set in the second half (and Fountains of Wayne live that night), and it'll be a great day of music.

(No, I haven't finished editing the Brooklyn tracks. Too much travel and day job demands. [Observe the time of this post.])

Recess Monkey Debut Song

I'm finally back from Cincinnati. (And our team did great, reaching the semifinals. Final four out of thirty teams is pretty great!)

Ella really enjoyed the couple of dozen birthday greetings she got; thanks, all.

This Saturday, Recess Monkey is doing a guest DJ set, and they're debuting a brand new song while they're at it. Cool, no?

Pinnochio Comes to Northampton

Several friends have kids at Nonotuck preschool, a local cooperative preschool. Coming up on May 3 at 5:00 pm, they're presenting a fundraiser with the Connecticut Opera's version of Pinnochio. It'll be at the Northampton High School and tickets are $7 in advance. Call 413-586-5996 for more information.

Happy Birthday to Ella

Ella's eighth birthday is tomorrow (Friday).

I am celebrating by being in Cincinnati coaching a moot court team. Hooray.

But you can make it special by sending birthday greetings to her - either as a comment to this post (which I will get to her) or by sending an e-mail to us at show AT sparetherock DOT com (which I will also get to her).

Chocolate Milk's Great

...and you can see part of ScribbleJim performing "Chocolate Milk" at our Brooklyn shindig with his ScribbleSon here.

The Nields

Here's a first picture from their visit to the show yesterday; more to come.

(That's Dan Schorr's daughter in the foreground.)

Thanks to Sienna for the picture!

I have some pictures of Dan performing that I'll get uploaded presently.

You Are Charlie Rose

if by "Charlie Rose" you read "me" and Charlie Rose was interviewing They Might Be Giants.

As I mentioned before (but it was in a sorta long post), we're probably going to be interviewing the band before their gigs here in Northampton on May 5. And we'd like to ask questions that you might find interesting.

I thought of one I rather like earlier today: "What band that broke up during your tenure do you wish was still around?"

So: post your ideas in the comments.

Airplane Jane, In Fact, Has No Last Name.

Mr. Richard (who's hosting the show on June 2 and appearing at Cup & Top the same day) as his very first music video up on YouTube now, and it's for probably our favorite song of his, "Airplane Jane":

It's a fun, lively video for a fun, lively song.

This week...

The Nields. Dan Schorr. New Danny Adlerman, Sharp Cookies, ArtsCetera, and more.

Plus: a kid-appropriate Hold Steady song you've never heard before. (At least not in full. And probably not at all.)

Edit: Doh! Then, as Stefan notes, they go and post it on their MySpace page after sending it to me. Oh well, if you don't go there, you won't have heard it.)

Pictures, pictures, pictures

Our Brooklyn album is here.

I unfortunately failed to track which pictures came from whom. Most are ours, but some are from Amy Davis and some are from Lunch Money and some are from Rebecca Frezza (edit and some are from GBK Gwyneth). I'm super sorry for mixing them up. If you drop me a line and tell me which ones you took, I'll credit you if you like.

Enjoy!
