2007-09-15 Playlist PLUS a chance to win a new Hipwaders CD
Figured I'd get this up now while I'm thinking of it. It's Hipwader Tito's guest DJ set, and oh how good it is.
Incidentally, I have a couple of extra copies of the Hipwaders fantastic new CD "Educated Kid." Want to win one? Tell me (via an e-mail to show AT sparetherock DOT com) who did the song that Tito partially covers at the start of the show.
Archive is here. (Update: Ha! That was funny, wasn't it? I linked to it before I uploaded it. It's uploading now, honest.) (Updated again: It's there now.)

Hm... why's the show skipping like this? This is a fantastic playlist, but chunks of songs keep disappearing!
Hmm. I haven't actually checked the file; will do so.
I'm listening now and haven't heard any significant jumps yet. I know the program I used to get the CDs Tito sent me burped a couple of times, but only I think lost like a quarter-second each time. Could you let me know where you're hearing bits of songs going missing so I can check the file? Thanks!
Mosty notably, I spotted about a second-long skip in Istanbul and also in Pussy Cat, since those are songs I've both heard a million times. As I listen to the rest of the show, it doesn't happen all that many times, so it's probably not worth worrying about too much.
On another note entirely, I had no idea Baseball (here called Chipmunk Fun) started with Alvin... unless it's a traditional song I'm just not familiar with. Rockafire Explosion, Chuck E Cheese's old, better-animated competition did a nice version of that which you can hear here: http://www.myspace.com/rockafireexplosion
Oh, sure enough. I had skipped to the middle of the podcast figuring that the start was probably okay. That burp in Istanbul is pretty significant, but with a 5:30 AM flight tomorrow, it probably won't get fixed... and it doesn't sound too bad beyond that.
Thanks for the heads-up. Usually when I'm doing these things, I let it just encode so the computer doesn't get too overworked and burp, but I was on a roll on an article I'm working on, so I kept working...
Sorry about the gassy computer program you're using...
On another note, NRBQ on their great 1978 album "Kick Me Hard" did a version of "Chipmunk Fun" called "Things We Like To Do" and referenced "CHiPs" instead of "Gunsmoke".
Oh wow...I saw the Nilsson "Garbage Can Ballet" on the list, but I couldn't believe it until I heard it. I suppose it's fine for the kids unless you have the accompanying visuals from Skidoo...the Green Bay Packers???
:) Unfortunately, that song also appeared to have skips in it. It sounds like it cuts off prematurely.
